"I
am afraid to tell these stories.
Petrified that there will be repercussions I can’t entirely fathom, some
sort of Catholic retribution will flare from the firmament and I will get a
disease we no longer have vaccinations for, a disease the likes that humanity
hasn’t seen in a hundred years. Small
pox. Cholera. Leprosy.
Tuberculosis. I will get small
pox and go blind. And when it hurts to
pee and I cough blood into a silk handkerchief this will seem incredibly small
and maybe even justified coming to find the family I love has sworn off loving
me. Because I told about us."
